Internet Connections
Internet came to our country in the mid 90’s and we have certainly progressed in this field of late. From browsing speed of 56kbs to 250kbs, we have propelled to a staggering speed of up to 4MBs. Though we have improved but we are still failing in few basic departments, such as, coverage area and connectivity issues.
We have now decided to critically investigate the working of the available internet providers in Pakistan and compare who is doing better and who is lacking behind. We, at Apnasystem.com, have tried nearly all the ISPs working in Pakistan and the conclusion that we have drawn is that we still do not have any ISP which is efficient in all the departments.
Further, we will be discussing the issues that we all might have faced while using any of these ISPs and try to take out our “Bharas” (grudge) against these ISPs. Wateen has a billing issue from day 1, Maxcom has the sync/un-sync issue, Linkdotnet has failed to provide the promised speed, Ptcl has its issues with the dsl line, Mobilink Infinity has coverage issues, and so on so forth. So please share your bad experiences with us, or in other words, take out your “bharas” on these service providers.

I have never seen such a fraudulent company like wateen they people really are cheater in their billing system. i am facing the yateen ( wateen) internet down from the past 1 week
Wht about PTCL its a big fraud company all the Staff from CEO to peon are busy in looting the customers. I worked in this company but due to bad behavior of th management & frauds of company withcustomers I got VSS & now a days workinin saudia on 10 times more pay & benefits. I will disconnect my land linealo soon……. bcoz it is only waste of money nothing else……………..!
There are alot of ISPs providing internet in Pakistan on different media as well as in different sectors some are providing services with unlimited downloads and some allow a specific volume..What matters the most in my view is the kind and level of support they are providing and the media used to provide the service. Guided and dependant media is always the worst choice leaving wireless to be the best and most reliable.
I agree with Aasi, PTCL people are crooks. They are not professional! I asked for an internet connection with a new line, they came in 16 days late and today they came to install the DSL modem 3 weeks after my request and i had to go to the inquiry office. to tell them that “BHAI INTERNET CONNECTION KI REQUEST KI THI!”
And when they finally came in today the wire was all tangled up and took extra time to fix it up.
and when it was installed, the internet kept disconnecting!
I mean, this is customer satisfaction.
I had MAXCom initially and was working far better.
Government services are supposed to be better, it turns out to be opposite.
I’ll be switching back to MAXCom again, though expensive, but outstanding customer service and quality.

I am back with my 2nd post. This is the 2nd day with PTCL DSL, no wonder they are giving away cheap packages, i am paying 2000 for the DSL 2mb and i am getting hardly 256 kb. i mean come on yaar, chalo being non technical samjh aata hai kuch sharing waring ho rahi hai line ki, but yaar DC to na hoe, i can’t download, i can’t login to any email account properly, DC pe DC.
Seriously, this is bad.
PTCL has never been good. Even they though they are the main internet service provider but still, they have got loads of problem, and no efforts can be seen for improvement, bad customer service, if you tell them you are having problems with your internet, they simply tell you that it’s your line’s problem and they don’t have wires to give you to fix it. I mean, c’mon, what the hell are they up to?!?!
Everybody is believing fraudism. Whenever i think about this so im so sad about our stupid working styles. the main problem advertisements to promote any internet providers. Please never go with look any good video or promo. First you should have to surveys so any demo package buy then check bandwidth upload/download check.
I had PTCL installed up at my home. I had severe issues, with the connection due the faulty telephone line landing from the Telephone pole to my residence. I had the telephone line changes from pole to my residence. That was the last day I ever had any problem with PTCL DSL Connection.
The speed is always constant, no connectivity issues. The pricing is best owing to the fact it is the cheapest package in Pakistan with unlimited bandwidth usage.
I’ve also experienced WI-Tribe, Mobilink, and Wateen, they have their issues. However, since the day I’ve setup PTCL on the new telephone line connection, I’ve had no issues at all and I am very satisfied with the service.
PTCL DSL is really disgusting….. Although it gives best speed and unlimited downloads but it keeps on disconnecting again and again and when we visit the exchange of ptcl for complaint of the connection then they write our adress and ph. no. and it seems that our dsl will be working soon when we will reach our home but of no use….In short BAD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. I kept on complaining the CP installer and he says ok im going to chek the connection and so on and nothing happens
hey guyz i have Multinet 1Mb Fiber Optic and its great no problem at all yaar downloading speed 100 and above kbps and browsing is wonderful….!!

Different people with their different issues. Some are satisfied & some are ridiculed. I see that PTCL is the one being criticized the most and yes I have got the same issue too. The most annoying thing was that it never stops disconnecting. While you’re in the middle of downloading an important assignment and it disconnects and you start downloading it all over again and then Alhumdulillah our pyara pyara KESC cuts the power off (sarcasm) .. and then you’ve to wait for an hour or so for the electricity, simple makes me to dig a hole and throw the entire PTCL ki company ko in it !!!!! DUH !
I’m currently using WI-TRIBE and its working all fine .. works all good with my system and the laptop packages are doing good too. At least no PTCL ka jhagra anymore. Hopefully it will be a good experience over all being in the tribe !

its been 4month when i applied for security amount withdrawl but yet no cheque dispatched at my place.they
were providing me really crap service and i also reckon they have lack of cordination b/w internal dept.s
well guys i know you all have some bad experience with the ptcl. but its a regrowing company and we people do better work for the customer service No wonder PTCL have 1.7 Millions BB Customer and can you believe we reached at North Waziristran South Waziristan and Bannu and all the Northern Areas . Other ISP’s never think about it. and 2000 customer facing problem instead of 1.7 million i dont think so its a big deal haan !! and i am also the part of the PTCL Higher Management and Specially From MULTIMEDIA and BROADBAND .. i hope you all understand better so east a west Pakistan Telecom Is The BEST
PTCL works fine in certain conditions. Such as, if u want to run a good internet speed connection u need to apply apply for a new PTCL LANDLINE connection which will cost u 750 PKR which will be added in ur bill at the end of the month. Once u get the connection in approx. 15 days. Then u can apply for a DSL connection on it which will take another 7 days max. although u will have to be patient during the process. But i guarantee u that once u run ur PTCL DSL connection on the new landline connection which I tell is based on FIBRE OPTIC . THat means which is the fastest medium to run DSL on.
I am already experiencing the PTCL DSL, did the same procedures. Here i am with 1.1 MB avg speed…can u believe…1.1 MB is 130kb/s avg!!!…its awesome

i am using ptcl and some time it got disconnected but most of the time it works properly and about the complain thing it need patience as i am in lahore and what i know that in last 2 years i ve filed 4 complains in which only one time it happens that i was angry or have to wait long other wise the guy on help line even ask me that on which day is suitable for checking as i remain outside most of the time and normally the person came on time according to my suggested day or i think it only happens in lahore so far and most of the time connection lost is due to faulty cable or the aux dupilexe filter (Dsl filter) is not plugged in properly with wires so please change your wires first as it surely works most of the time you can also reduce this problem by purchasing a high quality wire for your internet connection means from dsl filter to modem as due to heat most of the wires got faulty and noisy after couple of weeks or months so test this one also
Connect Communication also providing internet but they have speed but internally no connectivity problems daily almost.
they fail to satisfy the customer.
also V ptcl just have hi speed internet. but they are looting awam in the form of card.
arey bhai man ek advise doon ? sab choro worldcall use karo man karta hoon speed thori kam hai par pakka bata raha hoon faide man raho ge signals 24/7 aate hain
PTCL DSL is ridiculous .i m just sick of it. all the time its connection keeps discontinued n whenever we call there at helpline its not served properly ever.they dont understand the queries and if its understood (khuda nakhawasta) they dont have any satisfied answers.i m facing the problem for soooo many days n its just not gonna be fixed in anyway at any cost i know.huhhh

Bhai PTCL lai kai ghalti kardi. I don’t know why I quit Maxcom and switched to PTCL. Kamaskam Maxcom walai a to jatai thai ghar par sahi karnai.. PTCL walai had haram atai tak nahee hain..
Aur Wateen Log-in ho jai yahi uska buhat bara ehsan hoga. Pagal hojao log-in kartai kartai par woh kabhi nahee hota.. itni ignorant kisam ki services hain na yaar yeh sari internet service providers kai kya bataon.. laghta hai kai kisi kai pass achi service hai hi nahee denai kai liyai.

Really bad experiance, Quater speed, no connectivity, High rates, not recommended at All…. Especially Wateen, they even dont understand Karachi’s Needs.
i am using PTCL DSL for quite some time.and from day 1 i never have had a singile problem regarding connectivity and web surfing and downloading speed.i have 1MB package and it gives me download speed 100kb/s or more.so it is working fine for me.
But i agree that customer service is terrible they never act immediately on comlaints.and this thing is destroying their repute.

I don’t know if other ISPs are good or not but PTCL is the WORST! LITERALLY! I AM THE MOST TARGETED CUSTOMER OF THEIRS!
These guys are literally useless people, totally unexperienced, don’t know how to solve their problems and don’t want to care about the customers regarding DSL!
I have been facing problems with PTCL since 1 and half year.. Never solved it properly.. I threatened them to disconnect my internet connection a thousand times but even that doesn’t work!! JUST SEE HOW CARELESS THEY ARE! Of course they are getting so much money out of landlines they don’t really care about DSL..
We have been to their D.E and Exchange officer and pata nahi kon kon.. They say that they have forwarded our complaints to the GM , now just see how careless even the GM is!!! PTCL has just too many problems, the most frequent is DSL line prob but apart from that i was getting the problem of authentication ! They have never solved it till now.
You go to one person he tells you to go to the other one and this keeps going on , everybody keeps blaming each other . they never try to resolve it! Talk about highest speed but dudes if your damn connection doesn’t work HOW ARE YOU GONNA GET HIGH SPEED?!
We told them we’l write a letter to Etisalat.. Didn’t make a difference even then!! PTCL is an absolutely useless company.. absolutely pathetic service!! And they don’t even care about you. Just see how their GM is! What do you expect from a lineman?
If your connection is working fine , PTCL is alright till then but ONCE it screws up remember you’ll never get it repaired!
How’s maxcom btw? I am thinking of shifting over to maxcom.. is the speed good?

@ Wasif: dude i understand your problem! Same thing happened with me. The speed is so slow that you get so pissed off at times and feel like slapping these guys but it doesn’t make a difference..
I think all PTCL DSL customers should shift over to a better ISP cause guys these people are just too careless! Like bloody politicians! They’ll never resolve our problems! And it literally makes me mad sometimes at their pathetic service!
Who needs cable TV anyway? Throw out the cable and get a broadband.
I’ve used many ISPs like PTCL, Wateen, micronet, Nayatel. I’d be posting my reviews respectively:
1)- PTCL: I’m using a 2Mbps connection at my office and it works quite fine. Even though I had problems early on. I asked them to upgrade my connection to 2Mbps from 1Mbps and it took them nearly 2 weeks to upgrade that. Other than that their customer service is the worst case in case you have any problems with your connection. Otherwise PTCL is quite good. If they improve their Customer Service they can make hell lot of a difference.
2)- PTCL – EVO: I’m using PTCL EvDO for past 6 months. Unlike they claim, it provides a downloading speed of 200 – 230 KBps which was supposed to be like 600 – 700 KBps.
3)- Wateen Dongle: I’m using this service for a month and half now and they are quite good. Their Customer service is good, Downloading speed is 140 – 150 KBps. And the best thing is it is a prepaid connection.
4)- Micronet: I’ve used Micronet for a few months and it was quite good. I would’ve a Micronet connection at my office buy on my new landline PTCL doesn’t allow any other ISP to have their connections activated.
5)- Nayatel: The best ISP I’ve seen so far. Though they have very limited coverage but their service, customer support is beyond imagination. I’ve used them for a year and I’ll soon be getting a new connection at my office.
The only issue is their high prices otherwise they are the best.
You have to pay like 30,000 for the devices initially and then they don’t have any unlimited download packages.

Maine Qubee 1 month se use kar raha hoon. 1min. k liye bhi off nahi hova hai. Full signal with Best speed & best rates. 512kbps/Rs. 750 only. & 1MB with Rs.1000
PTCL Sucks !!!!!!!!! don’t go for it. There customer service is pathetic….. No 1 will solve the problem. Can higher ups of PTCl tell me how long is their day ? Is it of 24 hrs ?
Every time i call customer service, they say ur problem will be solved in 24 hrs.
And from last almost 2 weeks these 24 hrs have not passed for PTCL. illiterate higher management…..
for all people who are fed up with ptcl i can only say that there is only one solution for that up there one man said that new line new connection its just fake i ordered new connection its speed was more than 100 k bps but after a month its speed drop to 24 kbps and disconnecting whole day and night .i removed the connection and i ordered it on another line when the installation man came i did not leave him until he showed me full speed and he gave me three tips almost
first check phone after dailing a no 1 or 2 if its clear blank voice its means ur line is fine
second go to ur router ip which should be 192.168.1.1 write it on your browser if it shows in status menu 1024 upstream 254 downstream for 1 mbps users its good.and if it not runnig that means server is not responding you check that on going 202.125.132.12 -t write this on run if its giving you request timeout and net is not responding
here is the tip first open main line where you see two wires coming disconnect device from telephone wire short the wires by the means of wire or tester itll will give instant speed when you connect it for users who didnt got speed after this step also there is only one way from which you can get speed in this process only those friends do who have their user name and password which has been issued by ptcl can apply because if you do it with out user name or password you will be in great trouble so you just have to open router go t0 192.168.1.1 on browser and reset to it factory default setting it will restart your modem then goto advance or atm vc where youcan put your vc to pvc7 then goto PPPoE/PPPoA and write ur user name and password and Service Name of course ptcl the last step is the last step do it when ur going to throw it out of window i have done in the presence of ptcl officer i just worked fine on zxdsl 831cii and im doing this step when i need special speed or no disconection i dont say that this step will be forever after 10 or twenty minutes it just go to its normal speed so i have to do it when i need special speed
